Company Overview

Americo

Financial Strength Rating: A (A.M. Best)

Interesting fact – one of Americo’s companies, Great Southern Life, become the first carrier to insure the lives of babies and children.

Eagle Guaranteed Review

Eagle Guaranteed, one of two forms of final expense insurance offered by Americo, is guaranteed to be issued – regardless of your health.

First off, guaranteed issue life insurance should not be your first choice for life insurance coverage.

Why? Because everyone is approved, face amounts (policy size) are modest and premiums are expensive.

However, if you have exhausted other options, for example, 20-year term life insurance, without success, a guaranteed issue policy can feel like a gift.

There are five important features to consider before submitting an application.

1. Issue Ages

Guaranteed issue life insurance is only available to certain age groups – typically older individuals.

Americo offers coverage to applicants between the ages of 50 – 80.

If you are younger than 50 years old and do not qualify for traditional life insurance (often due to serious medical issues), look to an accidental death and dismemberment policy.

NoteGreat Western guaranteed issue life insurance begins offering coverage at age 40.

2. Face Amount

Keep in mind, guaranteed issue policies are small, to put it lightly.

Americo’s Eagle Guaranteed face amounts (policy size) range from $2,000 – $10,000.

Because the policy is modest, Americo recommends this type of coverage specifically for end-of-life expenses:

  • Medical bills
  • Funeral
  • Burial expenses

3. Instant Issue

Guaranteed Eagle policies have just about instantaneous issuance.

In fact, you can apply for coverage with a touch screen device at any time of day.

No required paperwork or phone calls.

Your policy number is provided immediately. And, a paper copy of your policy is typically mailed within one business day.

4. Policy Length

Americo Guaranteed Eagle life insurance is a form of whole life insurance, meaning that as long as you pay your premiums, your coverage lasts your entire life.

5. No Health Questions

Guaranteed issue is a form of no exam life insurance – with the simplest underwriting.

There are no health questions, no nurses, no needles, no liquid samples.

So, even if you have serious health conditions or habits, like:

You will qualify for coverage, regardless.

With Americo, plan to spend only a few minutes filling out an online application. That’s it.

Other Features

There are additional policy features to note.

Policy Loans

Policy loans are often available.

Americo currently charges a fixed rate of 7.4% (subject to change), compounded annually, on policy loans. Keep in mind, a policy loan cannot exceed the cash value of the policy or the contract will terminate.

Graded Death Benefit

It’s important to know that Eagle Guaranteed includes a 3-year graded death benefit.

What does that mean? Your beneficiary will not receive the full death benefit until the policy has been in place for a minimum of three years.

  • Year 1 – return of premium, plus 5%
  • Year 2 – return of premium, plus 10%
  • Year 3 – 75% of the face amount
  • Year 4+ – 100% of the face amount

Level Premiums

Your premiums (what you pay in exchange for coverage) are guaranteed to remain level.

That means throughout the life of the policy, your premium payment will not go up or down. Premiums remain the same.

Americo uses a monthly premium payment mode.

Accidental Death Provision

At no additional cost, an accidental death provision is included.

During the graded death benefit period, if death occurs as a result of a qualifying accident, your beneficiary receives the full death benefit.

No other riders are available.

Quotes

Remember, guaranteed issue face amounts are modest. However, if you are need of final expense coverage, this form of coverage may be a good fit.
